According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, Moscow wants to fight for the Pakistani market, which is now actively trying to occupy China. Recall that last year, Pakistan agreed with China on the construction of an LNG terminal at Gwadar and pipeline length of about 800 km in Nawabshah.
As reported, Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has approved an intergovernmental agreement with Pakistan, which is a subsidiary of the Rostec "RT Global resources to build a gas pipeline with a length of about 1,1 thousand km from Karachi in southern Pakistan in Lahore in the North.
This is the first large-scale project with the participation of Russia in Pakistan for the last 40 years, writes the edition.
Under the agreement the Russian side "arranges financing for the project, which will go with the "maximum use of technology, materials and equipment of the Russian production".
In turn, Islamabad should give the necessary permits and land plots, as well as to ensure Russian companies "for the recovery of all direct losses" - even in the case of "armed conflict, revolution, rebellion, insurrection, riot, terrorist attacks and similar events."
The pipeline would connect the terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Karachi to the North of the country.
The first such terminal in Karachi this year: American Excelerate put regasification vessel that serves as storage of LNG (FSRU) under the control of Pakistan's Inter State Gas Systems (ISGS, JV's two largest gas distribution companies in the country). The terminal's capacity to 9 million tonnes per year, the shareholders of the ISGS has already announced a tender for the supply of another FSRU to 4 million tonnes in 2016.
